       How can I find a reliable electrician? No one I knew could suggest one. Wouldn't it be cool if I could just look it up on a website?
There are a few sites with that kind of information, but they don't cover my area. They also don't cover the wider range of local vendors that I'd like to know more about. The problem is this. There are all kinds of great small businesses out there that just don't have any web presence at all, and quite frankly have their own reasons for not wanting to invest in one.
The other side of the coin is that as a consumer, there are very few resources for finding reliable providers of goods and services that don't come from a big box store. It's as if your only choices for an air conditioner repair guy are the one with the big ad in the newspaper or taking a random chance with someone in the yellow pages. Chambers of commerce don't rate their members. The Better Business Bureau only collects complaints, if they cover your area at all.
So the idea was born. The domain was purchased and I looked at the costs of development and the time involved to manage the project. I just couldn't pull it off. There were too many other commitments and the parts I needed weren't readily available. So I waited.
Well the schedule cleared a little. I found the pieces that I wanted while researching code for my clients. I even renewed the domain, hoping that I might get this off the ground.
So, with no further ado, I introduce MyWallah.com to the world. I hope you like it and I hope you use it. Most of all, I hope that some small businesses discover that we are watching for good and bad behavior. I also hope that we save a few people from the shady characters out there and that we help some users find the cream of the crop when they shop locally for goods or serviices.
